OCI Bastion Service
Owned the full product lifecycle from conception to launch of OCI's secure remote-access service, eliminating the need for customer-managed jump hosts.
Overview
OCI Bastion is a security feature that Oracle Cloud Infrastructure offers, allowing secure access to resources within a private network (VCN) without managing a separate jump host. I owned the full product lifecycle from conception through launch.
What It Solves
Traditional methods require deploying and maintaining a separate jump host in a DMZ. This means additional infrastructure to provision, patch, monitor, and secure. OCI Bastion eliminates that entirely.
Key Features
- Secure Access: Restricted, time-limited access to resources without public endpoints
- No Jump Host Management: Eliminates the need to deploy and maintain an additional server
- Identity-Based Permissions: Access controlled through IAM policies. Only authorized users with specific permissions can connect.
- Centralized Logging & Auditing: All Bastion activity is centrally logged and audited
Outcome
OCI Bastion became the de facto standard for private resource access on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, simplifying a relatively technical and complex task while maintaining a solid security posture.
